About Me

My photo
Hello! I am Bethany, a mom of 4 beautiful children, a owner of a dog, and married to a miner/hunter. (Camo is a popular color in our home). We recently relocated to the UP of Michigan from Juneau,Alaska...a huge adjustment. I have a passion for photography and documenting our journey through life. But, most of the time Im busy with my kids, hiding in the bathroom for peace and quiet, or trying to find my dog because he runs away all the time. Welcome to our world...always full of adventure.

This week, Mom and Dad are in town for the first time. It's SOOOO nice to have family visit you.
Trey and I went to the airport on Thursday to pick them up. I couldn't leave the house without Trey. It was like Christmas morning when he saw his grandma! She is sooo important to him. Grandma doesn't know what is coming to her when morgan and mattie are all around.
Trey pulled the suitcases...one finger! What a strong man! Showing off his skills.
Our first stop...Mendenhall Glacier. What a facinating thing for Virginians! And look at the coat that they brought...they are going to need a bigger coat than those...still smiling though.
And then there was Jordan. I am sure you will see a lot of him. He wants a lot of Alaskan picts. He is really good company. It's so funny because he is kinda a tree hugger (wants to protect animals and global warming and all that..) and Andy...well, we all know Andy. It's so funny because Andy is so blunt and Jordan just laughs it off. They are like brothers but not..

I thought I would throw in a couple picts of Mattie today. I couldn't pass up the opportunity of showing her messy side! It was raining hard and everything was mud at Trey's bb game. This is how her outfit looked by the time we left.

Hikeing up Perseverance Trail

Today I got up at 7am and met some friends to hike up the perseverence trail.
The day started out PURFECT! I would say, not a cloud in the sky but it is never that way. The weather was actually warm!

We started up the trail and reached the top a little over 1 hour! I am so surprised because it was 3.5 miles to the top!

On the way back down, it started to rain and get chilly. But it didn't slow us down.
There was also some kind of a race going on the same trail we were on. So runners kept running by and we cheered them on. We had to really watch out though because we didn't want to get ran over. It was absolutely beautiful. WATERFALLS, SPOTS OF SNOW, FLOWER BUSHES, AND OPEN MEADOW VIEWS were some of the natural beauty.
The best part of the hike was spending time with friends. We laughed sooo much! I love getting to know new people and their pets too. Diana is a blast.
When all was said and done, we hiked 7 miles in about 2.5 hours! I am really proud of myself.

Friday at the Park..In the Rain

Our trip to the Park on Friday! It's called Project Playground. The community built and raised the money for it last year. Anyways, we ordered pizza and had a picnic. However, when we got there, the wind picked up. It was quite chilly...

And then came the rain...it down poured on us but we just kept playing.

We ran into Amber Tingey and her little girl there. She's so cute.

Day at the Park

Rachel-I stole your pictures. They turned out so good I had to add them to my blog. So this is our trip to the park with friends. It was a beautiful Juneau day. Today it is raining however. But lets not talk about that...where was I ...oh yes, beautiful day. The kids all played hard. Even though trey isn't pictured, he was there off running with Luke. Mattie loves the slide and kept climbing up this inclined wall to get to it. She also loved eating the dirt! Crazy Vaughn. However, she doesn't like the water. Every time I got her close, she screamed.
I have started a new project at home. Sanding wood and re staining it. It came off the boat and I have to say it will look a lot better. I enjoy it. I think it's because it is different than cleaning the house.
Trey is doing so well at Baseball. He loves it. He only has 2 more games this season. While we are on the subject, I just want to talk about how impressed I am with him. He is such a joy to have around. He helps me out so much which goes to show how big of a heart he has. He wants to learn so much about working on projects around the house. I want to teach him and I am learning patients. Its hard sometimes to slow down and teach instead of just getting the job done.

Sunday June 1 2008

Our Sunday. Full of excitement. go to church. Primary is exciting. Morgan loves it. She gets to sing. Trey learns alot at this age. And Mattie, everyone just loves her.

These are taken right outside the building on our exciting day. Trey didn't want to be in the picture and it REALLY made me mad! He was acting like a

baby! I told him he was grounded and he threw this huge fit. Yeah, I know...IM the meanest mom in the world. What can I say. He has it so rough.
