Hello! I am Bethany, a mom of 4 beautiful children, a owner of a dog, and married to a miner/hunter. (Camo is a popular color in our home). We recently relocated to the UP of Michigan from Juneau,Alaska...a huge adjustment. I have a passion for photography and documenting our journey through life. But, most of the time Im busy with my kids, hiding in the bathroom for peace and quiet, or trying to find my dog because he runs away all the time. Welcome to our world...always full of adventure.

Here are some ideas for ya:

BBQ Crockpot Chicken, just add chicken, and BBQ sauce and let it cook for an hour or so with dutch oven cooking.

Chips, Sandwiches, grapes.

Instant oatmeal is warm and easy to pack for breakfast.

But you need to have pancakes and bacon at least once out there..

Make a HUGE bag of your OWN trail mix. You can eat it anytime..Get the stuff that your family likes, like the certain nuts, marshmallows, M&Ms or Chocolate chips, dried fruit, ect.

Smores..lol..like you didnt know..

Roasting Hot Dogs..dinner

Rice A Roni..and Meat of some kind..like pork chops?

I will try to think of more later..good luck!

Oh yeah, and on the pancakes, put the exact amt you measure out into a ziplock, and write any other ingredients you will need. That will save time and space.

Girl I can totally help you prepare for camping as far as food goes!! The trick is to prepare as much of the food as possible before hand and freeze what you know you will use later and it acts as ice in the cooler that way too. I even pre-cook my taco meat freeze it in a tupperware container at the bottom of the cooler next to BLOCK ice and it takes 3 days to completely thaw out and then it won't go bad! We could get together and I can help you plan a camper friendly menu, that will make your job MUCH easier over your camping trip and simplicity is the best thing you can have with all your kids in tow :)

I think Kristina is right. (Is that your neighbor?) I've made spaghetti and beef stew before for Shawn's hunting trips and then you freeze them in gallon ziplock bags.
Also, if you're going to be grilling you can freeze meat in the marinade and then as it thaws in the cooler you can put it on the grill. When are you leaving? I'll be gone until 6/20, but I have a new cook book with make ahead stuff in it and lots of grilling ideas. I could let you look at it, if the timing works out. But we leave in the morning. We're taking the youth group on the mission trip to Nikiski (Kenai area).
Good luck on your camping plans. A nine day camping trip sounds like fun.

Yeah 9 days! We actually get to stop and See the Bennetts along the way in Fairbanks. Those are all great ideas and I am so glad I have people that care and understand that I really don't know anything. Camping can be kinda intimidating with all the preparation that goes into it.
