About Me

My photo
Hello! I am Bethany, a mom of 4 beautiful children, a owner of a dog, and married to a miner/hunter. (Camo is a popular color in our home). We recently relocated to the UP of Michigan from Juneau,Alaska...a huge adjustment. I have a passion for photography and documenting our journey through life. But, most of the time Im busy with my kids, hiding in the bathroom for peace and quiet, or trying to find my dog because he runs away all the time. Welcome to our world...always full of adventure.

ANIMAL? OR FAMILY?

Last week was the last week of Summer break. The temperature was in the 50's. It also sheeted down rain with an occasional gust of wind. We even experienced a power outage at one point. The weather didn't effect me that bad because I have discovered what a difference painting my kitchen has done to my life. I cook much more and the kids love to play in the playroom.

The weather also gave me a chance to spend time, quality time, with the kids. Somehow, Duke was inside the house most of the week also. If you know me, I don't normally let dogs in my house because of all the mess they make. I hate indoor pets. But I have come to a different understanding this week.

Dogs that spend time with the family become part of the family. Somehow, now our pet Duke is now a member of the family. The kids love Duke and I have to say, he is turning into a good dog. He just needs to stop running away all the time.

Dogs. I never thought I would consider a dog part of the family. Just an animal.

I have come to the conclusion that in order to have a calm dog, you have to spend time with it. It has taught my kids what dogs need and why we have to keep the gates shut. Morgan has even broke down and cried when Duke ran away once. This is when I realize, this is the dog my kids will remember as their dog "growing up." The dog they will always love. The dog that will make them happy when they are sad.

I truley believe that a dog is a part of your family! And a key to a good dog is socialization, they are spazzes when they are left alone too much because they are super excited when they get any attention. Good to see that Duke is a member of your family I am sure he is loving being inside with you guys :)

I think the kitchen looks fantastic! A fresh coat of paint and some rearranging can make all the difference in a mood!
