About Me

My photo
Hello! I am Bethany, a mom of 4 beautiful children, a owner of a dog, and married to a miner/hunter. (Camo is a popular color in our home). We recently relocated to the UP of Michigan from Juneau,Alaska...a huge adjustment. I have a passion for photography and documenting our journey through life. But, most of the time Im busy with my kids, hiding in the bathroom for peace and quiet, or trying to find my dog because he runs away all the time. Welcome to our world...always full of adventure.

Friendship

Today, I taught my first lesson in church. It was on friendship. I have known about it for 3 weeks and studied the lesson. Friendship is a relatively easy topic, but there are so many components into friendship that made it a little difficult for me to prepare for.
I also had some time constraints and only had 20 minutes to speak. So where do I begin? I decided to break down all my thoughts into 5 categories: Who, what, where, when, and how (all related to friendship of course). So after 15 minutes had passed by, I had hit a LITTLE of everything, BUT didn't get a chance to get into the lesson as much as I would have liked. I hope someone learned something from it.

The most important thing to me about friendship is being honest, loyal, and trusting. I know in order to have friends, I have to be a friend. This is a statement that I live by. This statement works with your spouse as well. At times, when I am frustrated with Andy, I think about this...If I am more of a friend to him, he will be more of a friend to me. I do need to remember that not only am I the "mother of his children" but his best friend-to lean on in all our struggles through life. It sets the tone to know that he is my best friend, makes me love him even more.

Friendship is also something learned and achieved over time. I don't know what I would do here in Juneau without friends and am extremely...let me repeat, extremely grateful for them. My friends give me more than I give them. They keep me going, help me to set goals, and to grow as a person. I would hope that they are honest with me no matter what the situation is.

I believe Friendship is also starting to become a lost art in the world. As Christians and good people in the world, we keep it alive and continue to love our neighbors, friends, and family. Friendship is a powerful thing that can build people up and bring them out of loneliness.

It is a wonderful thing to have in your life. Soon, your friends become your family and a life long connection begins.

Thanks for being my friend. You are important. Good night.

Friends are great and offer such good advice when you need it. I'm reminded of a verse in the bible that reminds me to be the best friend I can be (sometimes I fail) Proverbs 18:24 says "One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." So thankful for my friends, but so much more thankful for Christ who is with me always. Thanks for your friendship Beth. I glad you live next door to me.

I am extremely grateful for you! You have done a great job raising your family and the best part of your advice today with Trey was bringing the bible. What an example you are of raising your family and bringing examples from the bible into real life decisions. It's easy being a parent, but hard to parent. Thanks for coming over and talking with Trey. Love you.
