About Me

My photo
Hello! I am Bethany, a mom of 4 beautiful children, a owner of a dog, and married to a miner/hunter. (Camo is a popular color in our home). We recently relocated to the UP of Michigan from Juneau,Alaska...a huge adjustment. I have a passion for photography and documenting our journey through life. But, most of the time Im busy with my kids, hiding in the bathroom for peace and quiet, or trying to find my dog because he runs away all the time. Welcome to our world...always full of adventure.

SPRING CLEANING

We are now in our 3rd trimester. Is it a celebration? I don't know if I would call it that, BUT I am getting a little more excited about having a little boy. Yesterday I went to Turf-for-Tots and there was a little boy that caught my eye. I looked at him and smiled and imagined what having a little boy meant. And then his parents allowed me to take some pictures as I was clutching onto my camera waiting to push a button.

....I am off topic. But, my point is with this baby coming I have to get organized and find space for the baby.I can't just put him in the closet and even if I wanted to, I would have to clean that out.

I have started nesting...or spring cleaning. I think it's a combination of both. All I want to do is clean and organize all of a sudden. Yesterday, I worked on going through the EXPLODING MOUNTAIN of laundry, organizing it, and going through bags that have been sitting around the house.

MY SYSTEM: LABELING BINS BY SIZE AND PLACE ALL CLOTHES IN THE APPROPRIATE BIN. NO MATTER WHAT THE ITEM WAS, IF IT SAID SIZE 2, IT WENT INTO THE SIZE 2 BIN.

After labeling bins by size, I realize:
-I have alot of clothes.
- I have alot of clothes laying around that either aren't in season, or just simply don't fit the kids any longer.
-My kids don't have everything they need. This will help me to shop better and fit it into my budget.
-I also have a ton of clothes to find a new home. Girl clothes all the way up to size 2, and boys size 8-10. Please call me if you want to go through a bin :)

-Shoes have been a problem...the amount of them that I have. I have hung onto shoes that are too torn up OR I only have 1 shoe to the pair! Can you believe that?! It's time to "throw away" and I still find it hard to do this sometimes.

In the end, their closets/drawers will be more organized, the frustration of laying out clothes shouldn't be as hard, and doing laundry won't be such a chore.

TIME FRAME FOR THIS:
I have a family of 3 kids and so far it has taken me 3 days. So if you attempt this task, give yourself the space and time. But remember, I am 30 weeks pregnant, so I am a little slower.

Looks like someone is starting to nest! Good luck with the never-ending quest for order :)

Hey, if you've got summer/spring stuff you should take it to mommy n me wear. Then when it sells you can use the credit to buy things for your little guy. Hope you're enjoying the organizing. I know it can seem a bit overwhelming before and in the midst of it, but it feels so good to have it done. I need to go through some kid clothes pretty soon too. Gotta make some room in the closets. Things are getting too tight.
